In some cases, a deeper clean may be suitable. Non metallic Plissé fabrics and coated Duette® and Plissé fabrics can be submerged carefully, along with the bottom rail. This does not apply to blackout fabrics, which should not be immersed.
If you’re considering a full clean, take your time and follow a careful approach. Fill a bath or large basin with lukewarm water at around 30 degrees and add a small amount of non synthetic detergent. Lay the fabric into the water while keeping the headrail above the surface. This is particularly important for motorised blinds.
For best results, allow the pleats to open rather than keeping them bundled together, helping to prevent creasing or distortion. Gently clean any remaining marks using a soft sponge or brush and never leave the fabric submerged for longer than two hours.
Once cleaned, rinse thoroughly by spray cleaning the fabric front and back to remove any soap residue. Carefully compress the pleats, reinstall the blind, and allow it to drop fully so the fabric can dry evenly. Gradually raise and lower the blind during the drying process to help the pleats return to their original shape.
This method forms part of more advanced cleaning pleated blinds care and may not be suitable for all installations.
